Posted in This is really upsetting to me. I no longer live at home im in the uk with my husband and children but my younger sister is still at home. any suggestions on what i could do to help them would be great. they both work full time but don’t make enough money to pay the bills along with the mortgage. what can i do to help them save their home from so far away? i wish i could pay the mortgage for them but that just isn’t possible. please help!

maybe you could offer to help with other things…or maybe have your sister move in with you for awhile if it’s finacially possible.
if not, maybe you could see if your sister..(depending on age) might be able to get a job and pay for some of her own things. that way your parents would have less to worry about.
plus, you might want to give your parents a few pointers about how to save money by doing things like eating out less, buying in bulk and buying store brand items instead of name brand…etc.
hope things work out for the best.
May be you could help get them with one of these mortage companies that they can go with and get their payments lowered,its worth a shot.
what about refinancing the mortgage and going thru a credit counseling agency for credit card bills. filing for bankruptcy could eliminate some bills (medical bills, credit cards, unsecured loans) which would mean more money to pay on the mortgage. how about selling the home, with the idea that their credit won’t be ruined and if there’s any $ left, they could use for a down payment on another home or save for a payment later on.
aside from paying the mortgage payment, there is not much you can do. i know you feel bad for your parents, but you have to take care of yourself and your family.
have you offered for your younger sister to live with you although that’s probably not too feasible since you don’t live in the country.
